Reflections

words from our sister ~ Sandra

Myra Y. Linen Miller You truly were my first born. You have always had a mind of your own, did things your way from birth. Who knew time would go by so fast. Twenty-three years ago just as I was getting married, you two were having ice cream, Nadja was jumping on Uncle Kevin's back, not even knowing he would truly be Uncle Kevin at that time, and we were getting acquainted. This wasn't easy since he traveled a lot. I remember the night you got engaged. I was so excited for you. You were marrying your prince charming. Over the years, I have seen so many progressive transitions between the two of you. There is someone created by God for everyone and you are absolutely created by God for each other. I have watched you grow so much as a couple, following God and leading others to Christ.

I remember the Faith Choir rehearsal when Sheilah prophesied God's blessings for the two of you, letting you know you would be in ministry together. At that time we had no idea it would transition through seasons of Avon, Chosen For Service, Web design, accounting and Pastor and First Lady. From the outset of your calling, you both jumped in 110% and never looked back. Then, most assuredly, my greatest blessings and gifts from your union are my nieces. Thank you for always allowing us to be a part of their lives. We would not be complete without them and then you (smile). They bring us great joy. We are extremely excited and happy to wish you a very happy and blessed 20th wedding anniversary and declare you have eternity to go. Continue to be blessed.

words from Our Sister ~ Mayneiata

To my brother and sister, Happy 20th Anniversary!!! Who, but God, could have told you that 20 years ago, you would enter into a covenant with each other and begin an exciting ride that would take you to the moon and back again? There were times when you had to strap on your seat belts and other times when you threw your hands up in the air as you anticipated the next drop that would take your breath away.

Either way, you had the courage to do it together because God was with you. It seems like it wasn’t long ago we were looking at bridesmaids dresses, and now here we are, 20 years later. My prayer is that you continue to make room for the Lord on this ride. There are still more twists, turns, drops and rises to go. Hold on and never let go of Him and each other. Aaron and I love you both, and we wish you guys a happy, blessed and fruitful 20th!

WORDS FROM OUR SISTER ~ MS. MONICA

Over the past year, I have been very reflective on Romans 8:28, which Myra is well aware of. The times that I’ve said it, texted it, smoke-signaled it to her over the past 12 months, she could not count on one hand. To be asked now to pen my thoughts about this beautiful woman of God and, by extension, God-fearing couple who have impacted my life in ways I can scarcely explain in a way that would give it true life is humbling.

Looking back on my 2001 words, the only thing that has changed is my gratitude for the depth our relationship has traveled. I had known Myra a little over four years at that point, and Kevin maybe two. While they both still manage to make time for “one more thing” in their lives, their union and individual lives unabashedly showcase the most important thing of all: a committed & dedicated relationship with Christ and how His power is truly the guiding light to life.

It is because of Myra that I accepted Christ in April 2001. As I have witnessed her evolve as a First Lady to congregations as Kevin followed the call on his life to become a minister, then Reverend to now Doctor of Ministry, they are living representations of God’s command “go and make disciples” because they have made many.

Myra still laughs at my corny jokes, brightens my day with her own funny stories, and both she & Kevin have selflessly supported & shepherded me through many an up and down in life as most recently as last year as they grappled with their own devastating loss. Twenty years ago, I said in Myra I have found a wonderful friend. In 2021 I am grateful to say I have KEPT a wonderful friend that has turned into true-blue sister, one of my “inner inners” as our 6 would say and, gained an awesome BIL (brother-in-law) along with two beautiful nieces. Our bond is part of the foundation of my life, and I am confident we will be relaxing in our matching blue & white ZETA rocking chairs, reminiscing about the old days when that time comes. Happy Platinum Anniversary Miller Time!
